Safety and Security Glass

Roe Window Systems - Wooden Aluminium Clad Window

Safety Glass
Ordinary float glass used in the wrong way may lead to personal injury. Both adults and children can bump into and through the panes and have severe injuries. Safety glass is used to reduce the risk of an accident.

In most cases toughened and/or laminated glass is used. Should the glass break, it falls out of the frame and is shattered into small, harmless pieces. Laminated glass makes sure that it still sticks together after having been broken.

Toughened and laminated glass share the ability that you can not cut yourself on the glass if it is broken.

Security Glass
Often the window is the easiest way in if breaking into a house. This is e.g. the case where intruders can work undisturbed and the sound of glass smashing does not attract any attention.

In such places people therefore often use laminated security glass due to its ability to withstand deliberate attacks of various kinds. The panes can be delivered with or without alarm.
